Fire EvacueesWays to Help If you'd like to help respond in some way to the need from the fire evacuations, here are a couple ways. Mission House There's a Christian organization in Thunder Bay associated with Round Lake Bible Camp. This group has a mission house here in the city. Here's a message from their director. “Things are crazy here. Armstrong evacuated last night and we ended up with 20 guests at the Mission House about 1:30am. We have 4 adults and 15 teens & kids staying there right now.” They would appreciate would any frozen hamburger/meat, frozen vegetables, frozen fruit. No one knows how long the guests will be staying here. They have also said that they will be fine if there is greater need elsewhere. The address of the Mission House is 416 Conmee Street. Contact Melanie: 807-356-6655 IFNA (Independent First Nations Alliance) Can you help host a person, family or pet, displaced by the fires? |

Outdoors or Indoors?
Given the smoky situation in Thunder Bay, there is a chance that we will move the service indoors. We aren't sure just yet what our plan is so stay alert for another email on Saturday evening. We might be meeting at Grace Place if the smoke is thick and inside Transformation Church is hot. They have welcomed us to enjoy their beautiful facility. It is air conditioned! Check your email on Saturday evening, as we will make a final decision then. |

Another Break InLast Night We experienced another break-in at the church last night. Another keyboard was stolen, a tablet and a few microphones. Additionally, damage was done to multiple doors inside the building as the individual/s smashed through doors to get inside closets, the sanctuary, et cetera. This is discouraging. We have brand new steel doors that have just become ready for installation. We were and still are planning to install them next weekend. (In the meantime, we're going to be more securely fastening those doors shut.) We will also be looking at installing security cameras/security system. If you haven't committed to the upcoming workday, we need you. We will have plenty of work to be done. Please contact Mark Woods if you can make it. (see below) As I spent a few minutes reading scripture and praying this morning, the following was part of my reading for the day. It felt timely. "Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you." (2 Cor 13:11) |

Be A BereanGod's Story: A Good Plan & A Good Friend Creation was good. The Coup was bad. God responds with a Covenant. We've seen how God creates. We've seen how humankind rebels. Now God responds with a covenant (a good plan) in the story of Abraham. This week, we turn our attention to this story found in Genesis 11 through 25. By this point, things are tumultuous. There's the record of the first sibling murder, the human race turned violent and evil, a cosmic flood, Noah and the rainbow, and a tower to heavan. We settle in on the story of Abraham starting at the end of Genesis 11. If you can, I'd recommend reading all the way from Genesis 5 to Genesis 25. It should take about 1 hour. As you read, look for a good plan. What is it? As you discover this good plan, begin to search for a good friend in the story. Hint: Good friends often have good plans. Abraham is talked about over and over again in the Bible. Notice the wonderful faith of Abraham. Notice his failings. Once you find the Good friend in the story, Abraham's story will cause you to praise and glorify God. Looking forward to Sunday! Jeremy For more infomation visit:

Men's Breakfast and Work BeeJuly 25th Transformation Men! We need your help! On Saturday July 25 we’re having a men's breakfast followed by a work bee. There are lots of jobs needing to be done at the church. During breakfast, we'll gather together for a time of fellowship and a spiritual word. Then, we'll put our faith in action by working to maintain, repair and improve the building that we've been given to meet in. Bring some basic tools, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrow if you have one. Please call or email Mark Woods for more information. Mark Woods - 204-979-3376 Even if you're not able to stay for the workday, please come. Ralph is organizing the men's breakfast, and he wants guys to come who like eating Finnish pancakes, eggs, and sausages. Come for as little or as much time as you are able. We'd love to see you. |
