Sharp Disagreement

Have you seen sharp disagreements happen in the church? Have you ever been a part of one?

I have heard many people say, "I wish the church today were more like the church in Acts." But did you know they faced many of the same issues in the early church that we face today?

This Sunday, we will look at the sharp disagreement between two of the most prominent leaders in the early church, Paul and Barnabas. The disagreement was so intense that they decided to part ways and go in opposite directions.

Who was right? Who was wrong? Scripture does not reveal the answer to these questions. However, what Scripture does reveal is of far more importance. God can use our disagreements for His glory. It is possible to be united in essentials but divided over opinions. When we disagree with each other, Scripture instructs us to be fully convinced but God-honouring.

I have talked about the disagreement between Paul and Barnabas in the past. This is one of my favourite stories in Scripture. There is so much to learn from this story. I am excited to dive deeper into this story and mine for gold. I pray that the Lord will speak to and challenge all of us this weekend.

Read Psalm 133, Acts 15 and Romans 14 to prepare for Sunday. May the Lord bless you and speak to you through His Word. See you Sunday,

Pastor Nathan
