Luke 24: 13-35
Death of Despair

Jesus is risen

Can you imagine talking about someone without realizing they were there the whole time?

That is exactly what happens in Luke 24:13-34. A disciple of Jesus named Cleopas was walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus with his friend, and they were talking about the death of Jesus. Jesus appeared to them, but His identity was veiled. Their conversation was drenched with doubt and despair, and they clearly misunderstood Jesus' mission. Jesus, appearing as a stranger, set the record straight. At the end of their conversation, Jesus' identity is revealed to them, and then He vanishes from their presence. Can you imagine what all of this would have felt like for Cleopas and his friend?

Spend time reading this passage this weekend. Put yourself in Cleopas' shoes. If Jesus had heard you talking to your best friend about your life and your perception of the events of this world, do you think He would have corrected anything? Or do you think you have it all figured out??

As you read and ponder, listen for Jesus' voice. Ask Him to speak to you about what He is up to in your life today. View your life through His eyes and His perspective. Does anything change when you do this?

I can't wait to gather on Easter Sunday morning to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!
