Let's Go Deep

Hey TC Family,

Being back with you all this past Sunday was an absolute joy! I thoroughly enjoyed jumping into our new series: God Is_____ with you. We have multiple opportunities to gather for prayer throughout the week, but I want to highlight the Tuesday morning one with you as we will start that back up this coming Tuesday.

We gather at 7 AM each Tuesday morning to sing, read and pray. We open with a few worship songs, then read through the passage that will be the main text for the upcoming message on the following Sunday. After reading and a brief discussion, we use that as a launchpad into prayer.

I desire that our congregation engage with God's Word in such a way that it will impact our understanding of who He is and make a difference in how we live our lives. There are multiple opportunities throughout the week to engage as a congregation with the same passage of Scripture.

Tuesday morning: We gather for worship and pray through the text.
Friday: In the weekly email, there is a section titled "Be a Berean," where we are encouraged to read through and study the passage of Scripture that will be preached on the following Sunday.
Sunday: We dig deep into the passage of Scripture to discover what God is saying to us. Life Group: There are Life Groups who gather to discuss the passage of Scripture that was that week's focus.

It is my hope and desire that we become a church that lives out Jesus' command to His disciples..."Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matt 28:19-20)
Looking forward to gathering with you on Sunday!

1+1+1=1

Did you know that 1+1+1=1?

That is the math of the Trinity. God is one, but He is also three. Confused yet?

There are things about God we will never understand this side of eternity. But, we can come to an ever-increasing deeper understanding of God as we learn to chew on and meditate on what He has revealed to us about Himself through Scripture.

I have two goals for this message, and I hope to accomplish one more than the other. The first goal is that I hope we all gain a deeper understanding of what it means when Christians say that God is triune. Secondly, and more importantly, I hope that as we look into God's triunity, we will find our hearts strangely warmed, that we will find ourselves falling deeper in love with this Triune God, that our sense of awe and wonder will increase and that we will be drawn into a deeper relationship with Him.

This weekend, spend some time reading Matthew 3:13-17. This is where Jesus' baptism is recorded. There are references to Father, Son and Holy Spirit throughout Scripture, but Jesus' baptism is the clearest picture of our triune God. If you want to dig a little deeper, go and read about Jesus' baptism in Mark, Luke and John as well. All four Gospels record this divine event and paint a beautiful picture of God revealing Himself as three in one.

For even further study, click the link below for an eight-minute video produced by the Bible Project, which does a fabulous job of giving a brief explanation of the Trinity.
