This Sunday

Hey TC Family,

Last Sunday I announced that we would be doing a BBQ this Sunday, that was my mistake! We are not having a BBQ this Sunday, we will be our next BBQ next Sunday, August 7. My apologies for any confusion. 

Here is a funny story. Last Sunday while Tim was preaching he made a comment about our BBQ which happens every other week. And then he said something along the lines of how we are actually fed each week whenever we open the Word together. One of our regular TC attendees walked by me on his way to the bathroom and said, "How dare you fill us up on hot dogs each week instead of God's word!" We both laughed at his humor!

Even though he was being intentionally humorous, his comment struck me. When Jesus was being tempted by the Devil in the wilderness for 40 days he was on a food fast. The Devil tempted him to use His power to make bread so that He could eat. Jesus responded with a Scripture verse from Deuteronomy, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." 

What a profound truth from Jesus! We get pretty focused on food, on earthly sustenance. Food and provision are important and matter to God. But Jesus puts the Word of the Lord on equal ground with our food, Jesus says that we people cannot live merely on bread, but that we need God's word as well! Do we hunger for His word in the same way we hunger for bread?? 

I hope this little rant was meaningful to someone this week, perhaps God will use my mistake in announcing a BBQ to teach us what it means to feed and feast on His word!

Spend some time this weekend reading James 2:1-12 and listen closely for what the Lord is saying in and through this powerful passage.

Baby Dedication

This Sunday we are going to have the opportunity to be a part of the dedication of Gideon Andrew Stanislavsky, Roman, and Lydie's new little boy. 

I can't wait to worship, celebrate new life and dig into God's word with you this weekend!
